Čím byla tvá univerzita výjimečná? Jak vypadaly prostory ve kterých jsi studoval(a) a univerzitní vybavení?
The University of Bristol provides a brilliant academic environment for all of its students, including exchange ones. The Global Lounge was a welcoming area for study abroad students and the staff was very welcoming. The campus is located very close to the city centre, which was great. It offers various study spaces, some very modern, some resembling Hogwarts' study rooms.
Co tě první napadne, když pomyslíš na svou "adoptivní" univerzitu. Čím byla výjimečná? Jak vypadaly prostory ve kterých jsi studoval(a) a univerzitní vybavení?
The semester included an almost 3week long spring vacation and was unfortunately affected by strike actions. The courses were similarly structured, including an hour lecture and a 2-hour seminar to focus on readings. A huge advantage was the time spent on essay preparation and preparation exercises to better our final results. The exam period consisted of traditional essays and timed assessments, which gave us 4 days to complete a shorter essay and a selection of essay questions.
Jak vypadá studentský život na univerzitě?
The Global Opportunities office organises many welcoming events for exchange students and provides mental support as well to overcome the initial confusion and stress. There are also student pubs right on the campus where many students meet after lessons. It was fairly easy to meet new people and joining the events organized by the uni definitely helped.

High English language proficiency is a must (unless studying other languages during chosen courses).

The city of Bristol is a very artsy, cosmopolitan and multicultural city. It has a rich culture of street art, plenty of festivals and art concerts and the majority of its neighbourhoods is full of life. It is perfect for somebody who loves embracing other cultures and strolling down little bookshops, charity stores and cosy cafés. It is a harbour city with great connections to nearby cities, including London.

The scholarship covered 90% of my accommodation expenses. I would highly recommend for any student to come to Bristol with their own savings or parental support as the prices for rent and overall cost of living is fairly comparable to the one in London.

Every supermarket offers meal deals for discounted prices which include meal+snack+drink. Lidl and Aldi tend to be the cheapest supermarkets and cooking your own meals is genuinely the most money-saving tip. Bristol is an easily walkable city so I'd recommend walking or sharing scooters instead of public transport, which does not offer any student discounts.

I went for accommodation in the private sector as the university accommodation was already full. It was surprisingly cheaper and I did not have to pay extra for doing my laundry. It was further from the university though, but I highly recommend sacrificing a few minutes in the morning for cheaper rent.

Využil(a) jsi Erasmu k cestování po tvé zemi/Evropě? Jaké jsou tvoje nejlepší cestovatelské zážitky? Co naopak nedoporučuješ?
I visited the beautiful city of Bath, which is only 30 mins away. I'd highly recommend visiting the nearby coastline and its calm beaches. Cardiff and the nature of Wales are also within reach and offer a beautiful escape to nature.
Jazyk a kultura: jakých kulturních odlišností jste si všiml/a? Jak jste se vypořádával/a s národním jazykem? Byl to i jazyk vašeho studia? Máte pocit, že jste se v jazyce díky pobytu posunul/a?

I would definitely recommend the University of Bristol for its amazing and professional academic resources and brilliant teachers. A huge plus is the vibrant city of Bristol itself of course.

I was most surprised by the welcoming and friendly attitude of the teachers who were very friendly and during seminars acted very friendly.
Nejtěžší pro mě bylo....
The hardest thing for me was to sensibly plan my finances for the whole exchange.
