The event promises a comprehensive exploration of crucial themes in the realm of migration, superdiversity, health and well-being. Building on the success of former editions, the 2025 Summer School extends a warm invitation to graduate students, practitioners, and applied researchers.

Besides hosting prominent scholars and the possibility to engage with a diverse network of peers sharing neighbouring academic concerns, the program also includes interaction with different societal partners (such as NGOs, IOs, policy makers etc.) and field trips to relevant locations in the city.

The programme includes two weeks of lectures, lab sessions and discussion sessions which will be led by distinguished international faculty members and experts in the field. The participants will have the chance of sharing their research agendas and ideas with these scholars in an interactive environment. An academic presentation and the submission of an original research paper of at least 4.000 words is required from all participants. A certificate of participation will be provided upon successful completion of the program. On demand, students will be provided 3 ECTS course credits.

Who Can Apply?

• International students studying medicine or related sciences (typically in their 2nd or 3rd year of undergraduate studies)

What can you expect?

• The program consists of a package of two courses, each course comprising approximately 39 hours of class time.
• Students will learn from experienced faculty, clinicians, investigators and scientists.
• Classes are highly interactive and may include group discussions, guest lecturers, workshops, research projects, laboratory experiments, and field trips.
• As the Faculty of Medicine takes a distributed approach to education, some students can expect to travel to different hospitals or clinical sites for classes or experiential learning, such as an ultrasound biopsy simulation workshop.
• Students may be responsible for the cost of public transit when attending classes off-UBC campus and participating in field trips.

Univerzita v Sussexu opět pořádá letní výzkumný program a nabízí místo pro studenta Univerzity Karlovy. Jedná se o program na podporu talentovaných a ambiciózních studentů, kteří mohou v létě provádět výzkum pod dohledem v Sussexu.

Studenti jsou zváni k práci na osmitýdenním projektu, což jim dává příležitost spolupracovat s významnými vědeckými pracovníky a rozvíjet neocenitelné akademické dovednosti a sítě. Aktivita je určena studentům bakalářského studia (po prvním ročníku) zaměřených primárně na Media, Arts a Humanities. Více informací naleznete zde.

Výběrové řízení bude dvoukolové, první kolo proběhne na úrovni jednotlivých fakult, všechny dokumenty proto prosím posílejte svému fakultnímu koordinátorovi. Fakulta nominuje jednoho studenta. Z nominovaných kandidátů vybere komise jednoho studenta a jednoho náhradníka.

Součástí programu nejsou kredity ECTS.
